Job Description
Position Description:
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a retired or former Army
AH-64D (Apache) Armament/ Electrical/ Avionics Systems Repairer (15Y)
to provide training assistance and advice to the Egyptian Air Force
in all aspects of maintenance as it pertains to the safe and
successful operation of AH-64D Aircraft.

As a Foreign Military Trainer/Advisor, this person will function
as a member of a US Army Technical Assistance Field Team (TAFT) that
provides the Egyptian Air force (EAF) with advice, technical
assistance, and training in support of their AH-64D helicopter
fleet. This team assists in all aspects of daily helicopter
operations and maintenance in order to facilitate and build an
operational, self-sustaining helicopter squadron. This
Technical Assistance Field Team is being provided as part of a
Security Assistance Training Program that directly supports US
Foreign Policy and the execution of Department of Defense Security
Cooperation Plans and Programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide maintenance management advice and
training for a 44-aircraft AH- 64D organization.
• Advise and assist in the preventive, scheduled, and
unscheduled maintenance on AH-64D Attack Helicopters assigned to the
EAF.
• Work directly for the US Army TAFT Chief and
work closely with other assigned contractor and military TAFT members
to assist the EAF in the safe, efficient and effective implementation
of their maintenance management and training programs.
• Provide hands-on training and advice in the
maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of the AH-64D Attack
Helicopter electrical, avionics, weapons, missile, and fire control
systems and all related components.
• Provide guidance
in the appropriate aviation unit-level maintenance (AVUM) and
aviation intermediate level maintenance (AVIM) corrective actions
utilizing appropriate technical publications.
• Advise
and/or assist in authorized modifications and alignment on weapons
components, fire control units, sighting elements, electronic and
mechanical devices.
• Provide training and advise on
the performance of operational and preventive checks on aircraft
flight controls, stabilization systems, avionics, ammunition
loading/unloading and weapon subsystems configuration changes for all
AH-64D weapons, avionics and ASE systems.
• Provide
training and advice in the proper maintenance of facilities for
storage of weapons, ammunition, weapons cleaning equipment, and
supplies.
• Train and advice in the operation and
repair of diagnostic equipment.
• Provide training for
the EAF on AH-64D armament, electrical, avionics systems, and all
related subsystem components to include conducting and supervising
Skill Level 3 through Level 7 training for EAF maintenance
personnel.
• Monitor the preparation of forms and
records related to the AH-64D armament, electronic, and avionics
systems.
• Perform operational checks as required in
the process of training EAF maintenance personnel to perform the
checks.
• Provide technical guidance to other TAFT
members, independent contractors and EAF maintenance personnel to
ensure all EAF aircraft meet U.S. Army maintenance and safety
standards.
• Use online resources and maintain close
contact with AMCOM, AED, and other agencies to ensure that the EAF
and TAFT personnel have the most up to date and accurate information
pertaining to MWO’s, AMAM’s, SOF messages,
MIM’s and TB’s for the AH-64D Apache.
• Review EAF maintenance policies, procedures and SOPs
and provide input to the EAF to improve their internal maintenance
capabilities.
• Assist in the development and
establishment of standard operating procedures within the TAFT to
ensure the safe and successful completion of the TAFT mission.
• Perform administrative duties within the TAFT which
may include but are not limited to: safety, force protection, key
control, ALSE (if qualified), computer security working groups,
publications, vehicle control/issue or other duties as assigned by
the TAFT Chief.
For over ten years, AMERICAN SYSTEMS has supported the delivery of
training services to foreign military personnel in support of US
foreign assistance programs. We offer a very competitive
compensation and benefit package and there are no upfront out of
pocket expenses for persons hired. All travel and
transportation arrangements will be made and paid for by AMERICAN
SYSTEMS. Living expenses are paid by AMERICAN SYSTEMS with all
employees living in western-style secure accommodations. Work
is performed five days per week at an Egyptian Air Force Base.
Persons hired will be full-time salaried employees of AMERICAN
SYSTEMS. There is no requirement/authorization to carry
firearms.
Position Requirements:
• Retired/
former Military AH-64D (Apache) Longbow Armament/ Electrical/
Avionics Systems Repairer (15Y)
• Completion of the
U.S. Army Advanced Individual Training (AIT) 15Y course and have a
minimum of 10 years’ experience in the MOS to include 6 years
specific to the AH-64D Apache Longbow.
• Extensive
experience with the Captive Bore-Sight Harmonization Kit and
troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing all AH-64D weapons and
sighting systems to include Modernized TADS (MTADS).
• Experience maintaining aircraft forms and records and
experience entering weapons system data into the aircraft.
• Possess a thorough understanding of maintenance,
preventive maintenance, correct maintenance concepts,
troubleshooting, fault detection, fault isolation procedures.
• Understanding of the application, operation, and
maintenance of all applicable peculiar ground support equipment
(PGSE) and Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
• Prior experience in Aviation Unit-level Maintenance
(AVUM) and Aviation Intermediate Level Maintenance (AVIM) corrective
actions utilizing appropriate technical publications.
• Experience developing and implementing training plans
and programs of instruction at a US Army Service School or civilian
equivalent.
• Physically fit with ability to present a
professional military appearance and bearing.
• Medical physical exam within the last 12-months with no
chronic conditions that would prevent performance of duties in a
semi-austere, seasonably very-hot environment with limited access to
“western standard” medical care.
• Ability to meet the Medical Screening And Vaccination
Requirements listed in C-JTSCC 952.225-0009 for Contractor Employees
Operating In The CENTCOM Area Of Responsibility (AOR)(Aug 2011)
• Ability to present proof of recent negative HIV test.
• Must possess a current US Tourist Passport.
(Passport must not expire within 12-months of being hired.)
• Candidate must be drug-free with ability to
successfully pass drug screening test.
• Ability to
pass a comprehensive background check.
• Ability to
effectively conduct cross-cultural communications and deliver
training/instruction with the use of an interpreter.
Background / Experience Requirements:
• Prior experience conducting cross-cultural
communications and delivering training/instruction with the use of an
interpreter.
• Prior experience as a military
instructor in the related skill is highly desired.
• Prior experience developing military instructional
material.
• Prior experience working with and training
foreign military personnel is highly desired.
• Prior
experience working with foreign military personnel in the region is
highly desired.
