The Dow Chemical Company has an opening for an Electrical Engineer located in Carrollton, KY. The Electrical Design Engineering Specialist role acts as a technical resource for the Electrical discipline within the Global Project Methodology (GPM).
The Design Engineering Specialist is proficient in the application of engineering skills for their discipline and independently applies this knowledge in practical applications. This role provides a technical resource to lead project teams and/or to provide expertise in specific fields, tools or theory. This role also leads the coordination with the global discipline technical experts to ensure Dow’s Most Effective Technology (MET) Standards and/or best practices are applied and/or variances are indicated and worked through in a timely manner. In addition, this role drives variances to MET where value could be leveraged. At this experience level the Electrical Design Engineering Specialist acts as an Electrical Lead Design Engineer for intermediate improvement projects, or portions of the design within larger capital projects under the direction of the Electrical Lead Design Engineer.
Applies Global Project Methodology (Global Project Methodology) and Discipline Engineering Work Process Discipline.
Ensures that the project scope is well defined and meets the business needs in a cost effective manner.
Ensure that the process design is safe, meets DOW Loss Prevention Principles (LPP’s) and other EH&S requirements.
Drives project execution within their discipline.
Provides input to project schedule and plans, then monitors progress against the plans.
Ensure discipline design deliverables for their discipline meet the needs of the project: functions as intended, on time and within budget.
Identifies technical problems and appropriately engages the business tech. center and Subject Matter Expert (SME) network to resolve.
Required Qualifications: *
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
A minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience
Excellent communication skills, organizational and work coordination skills, and interpersonal skills are also critical to role success
Change management experience
Experience leading small teams
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Six Sigma Green Belt Project Leader or Black Belt Certification
Experience in managing the deliverables needed to prepare project estimates and schedules
Construction, Operations and/or Commissioning and start-up experience
