Applicants and employees in positions which perform job duties that may require contact with offenders in the custody or supervision of the Department of Corrections or with youth in the care, custody, or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, 28 C.F.R.115.17 and 115.317.Description of Job Duties:Performs major repairs and maintains gasoline and diesel powered equipment such as auto/truck diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, brakes and electrical systems. Performs other duties as assigned. Performs new vehicle preparation. Performs air conditioning system repair, oil and filter change and wrecker and car hauler duties. Performs rear differential repairs, overhaul and rear differential unit exchange. Performs automatic transmission overhaul, service, flushing and unit exchange. Performs engine repairs and engine exchange on both gas and diesel vehicles. Performs major and minor brake repairs and service including police package Antilock brake system. Performs repairs to all electrical systems including police package wiring. Performs other duties as assigned.Special Requirements ::Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must be ASE certified in one of the medium/heavy truck or automobile test series.
