Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possess and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.Job Group ::ENGINEERING AND GEOLOGICALCharacteristics of the Job ::With the specific written approval of the State Highway Engineer, positions in this class are authorized to oversee activities on small construction, maintenance, bridge inspection, or utility relocation projects OR to perform tasks requiring the application of advanced technical principles in the design, development, and/or review of small engineering projects while learning to perform more complex technical functions OR plan, organize, assist and inspect the proper installation and safety of any maintenance Work Zones and learns to plan, organize, assist and inspect the proper installation and safety of minor construction Work Zones; and performs other duties as required. (Engineering decisions recommended by positions of the class must be approved by a Licensed Professional Engineer under KRS 322.)Minimum Requirement - Education ::Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, geology, earth science, industrial technology, industrial drafting, design technology or construction technology.Minimum Requirement - Experience ::Two years of engineering-related experience.Substitute Education for Experience ::1. Possess a valid EIT certification issued by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors OR 2. Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR an associate degree in an engineering field OR 3. High school OR 4. High school.Substitute Experience for Education ::1. Must have two years of engineering-related experience with the first education option above; OR 2. Must have four years of engineering-related experience with the second education option above; OR 3. Must have eight years of engineering-related experience in which case related technical or vocational training will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years with the third education option above; OR 4.
