Job Description

If you are an outgoing and driven Industrial Sales Representative (Outside Sales) with historical experience in sales who is seeking career satisfaction with a financially stable and growing company, join the team at MH Equipment! As an Industrial Sales Representative (Outside Sales) with MH Equipment, you will report to your Regional Sales Manager. You will initiate and maintain strong customer relationships and increase the sales of our products and services. The branch office location will serve as your primary office location and you will travel to planned and regular sales calls throughout your territory by means of your own vehicle. You will achieve sales and gross profit objectives, identify target prospects and create strategic sales action plans to turn prospects into customers.

Job Responsibilities

This individual is responsible for increasing the sales and gross profit of New, Used and Allied Equipment, LTM’s and other support services available from MH Equipment Company and for developing Customer relationships. This individual is responsible for achieving agreed upon results in accordance with the determined Industrial Sales Representative (Outside Sales) expectations.

Additional Responsibilities of the Industrial Sales Representative (Outside Sales) include:

  • Create sales, gross profit and achieve the identified sales and gross profit expectations

  • Obtain, maintain and optimize Customer relations through planned and regular sales visits and communications

  • Use of SalesForce.com (Customer Relationship Management tool) in compliance with current Company policies

  • Identify target prospects and create/implement strategic action plans to develop the accounts as Customers

  • Assist the Customer with demos, application surveys and changeover needs on products

  • Follow-up on all Customer leads from external and internal sources

  • Maintain Customer information files and notes within the CRM system in accordance with Company policy, procedures and requirements with periodic review with management

  • Participate with product promotions from external and internal sources

  • Manage all custom programs installed at the assigned accounts

  • Initiate, maintain, manage and process quotations and orders in accordance with Company policy, procedures and requirements

  • Resolve any Customer issues, problems or complaints to satisfy the Customer

  • Support account terms and assist in account collection if required

  • Participate in determination of any appropriate credits and/or returns

  • Enhance vendor relations by supporting programs and working with their representatives

  • Attend and participate in all sales or Company meetings

  • Participate in Company sponsored training sessions for enhancing selling skills and technical knowledge

  • Produce periodic budgets, plans of actions, summaries and other reports or lists as required by management

  • Communicate regularly with inside sales personnel and management

  • Present a professional image in personal appearance, dress and preparation

  • Follow Company and Sales Department policies and procedures

  • Pursue increasing knowledge of the Territory, Markets and Competitors

  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

As an Industrial Sales Representative (Outside Sales) with MH Equipment, you must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, a strong sense of integrity and superb organizational and time management skills. You must be competent in territory management, be able to organize a sales strategy and possess great presentation skills. You must also be a self-starter and problem-solver who keeps the customers’ best interests at heart. Additional Requirements for the Industrial Sales Representative (Outside Sales) include:

  • Experience in industrial sales with experience in material handling sales preferred

  • Great interpersonal skills – Displays honesty, ethics and integrity at all times

  • Ability to organize a selling plan and exhibit time management skills

  • Competency in time and territory management

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Valid driver's license, proof of insurance and dependable vehicle

  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, web searches, etc

  • Must meet physical requirements of the job per the attached document, Physical Requirements of an Outside Sales Position

  • Must have prompt and regular attendance

Working Conditions: Flexibility to work when Customer needs require it and may exceed a 40-hour workweek with some overnight travel and weekend work. The Branch office location is the Industrial Sales Representative (Outside Sales) primary office location. The Industrial Sales Representative (Outside Sales) must have a reliable car to use for considerable travel in the territory. The position is exempt from paid overtime.
