Works under limited supervision or independently. Using independant judgement to identify risks and mitigants, prepares and effectively recommends loan offerings based on scorecards, such as risk ratings, by analyzing credit, collateral strength and financial worthiness of loan/transaction parties and also may have limited approval and/or exception authority. Prepares offerings for specific transactions or in management of a portfolio as assigned and interacts with internal/external customers. May provide recommendations for credit structuring.

If relevant, performs ongoing credit risk management for assigned portfolio.
Contacts internal/external customers and other parties as appropriate to gather information and clarify inconsistent, incorrect or missing information. May include relevant pre-approval and post-approval activities.
Performs or assists with the identification and/or confirmation of all external regulatory requirements. Ensures internal policies and procedures are followed.
Makes recommendations on credit decisions or makes credit decisions directly as appropriate.

Required Education and Experience:

As an Underwriter II, you will be joining the Equipment Finance team of seasoned credit risk professionals, and you will be utilizing sophisticated credit techniques and top quality research to manage the Equipment Finance’s credit risk strategies. Operating independently, you will manage credit requests from origination to approval in a timely fashion, adhering to program specific service level agreements, as well as bank credit policies and risk management guidelines, ensuring that the requests have been appropriately structured and underwritten within the context of bank credit policies. Best of all, you will help structure borrowing solutions that help our customers achieve their financial goals. Credit requests will vary from small and simple to large and complex, with the position focused primarily on the larger and more complicated deals, and within the healthcare and public finance industries. Requests can range from $40 thousand to $40 million. Additionally, you will be involved with various special projects as they arise from time to time (e.g., targeted portfolio reviews, industry analysis, policy/procedure updates).
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
Demonstrated leadership in commercial lending, underwriting, or credit activities for a period of 3+ years. A familiarity in the healthcare and public finance industries is preferred.
Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, or business related area required. MBA, CPA, CFA, or other advanced degree a plus.
Demonstrated knowledge of risk management and credit policies, procedures, and systems.
Communicate effectively with internal/external individuals from diverse backgrounds including Regulators, Credit Audit, and outside auditors.
Advanced credit analysis skills, and demonstrated analytical skills.
Ability to manage larger or complex deals as well as smaller or less complex client credit requests from origination to approval in a timely fashion, while adhering to bank credit policies and risk management guidelines.
Good time management, with an ability to prioritize and deal with multiple, competing demands.
Ability to adapt to changes in deadlines and changes in nature of assignments.
Effective communication skills (written & verbal), with an ability to cultivate/maintain cooperative business relationships, even in difficult situations.
Effective computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
