External Job Description:

General Purpose of Job: Perform barrel filling , barrel entry, barrel withdrawal, barrel emptying, product processing, product shipping activities, or other duties as assigned to successfully achieve whiskey maturing operations and production requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Unload empty barrels manually or by mechanical equipment to barrel filling line.

  • Fill barrels with distillate utilizing lances and electronic controls.

  • Empty barrels utilizing lances and electronic controls and transfer to storage tanks.

  • Forklift operations to move barrels on pallets, unload barrels to porches for entry into rack warehouses, unloading supplies, or other tasks as defined.

  • Loading of empty barrels for shipment.

  • Raw material stocking.

  • Transport barrels from filling line by barrel truck to warehouse operation.

  • Unload full barrels from trailers or barrel trucks.

  • Barrel entry, barrel removal and barrel rotation, including but not limited to, operating warehouse elevators, rolling barrels, bung setting (activity of rolling barrel down the rack to ensure the barrel bung is in the upright position at its resting position), rolling barrels down the rack, relocating barrels to different floors of warehouses, operating jere hoist - mechanical barrel lift, operating barrel truck and hydraulic barrel lift on the truck.

  • Leak hunting, barrel repair, and barrel sampling.

  • Product processing operations, including but not limited to, bulk product tanker unloading operations, product blending operations, transfer of bulk product from storage tanks to weigh tanks for loading in tank trucks for transport, measuring and calculating proof and gauging of product, placarding and paperwork, sample collection and labeling, valve and hose adjustments, pump operation, tanker placarding.

  • Housekeeping and janitorial duties as assigned.

  • Participate on site safety team and Dupont STOP Card program.

  • Exhibit a positive attitude and work with coworkers in a team based environment to achieve production goals.

  • Support programs to prevent accidents, prevent spills, eliminate waste in production, recycle, improve production, conserve materials and supplies, improve quality, demonstrate good manufacturing practice, and uphold Diageo values, code of conduct, policies, procedures and terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Hazardous material training and handling.

Minimum Requirements:

Potential candidates must possess the following:

  • High school education or GED.

  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.

  • Mechanical aptitude.

  • Forklift safety and certification or experience in the operation of a powered industrial truck.

  • Able to distinguish the difference in numeric or alphabetic sequences.

  • Material handling experience.

  • Computer skills (basic computer skills and Microsoft suite – email, word, excel.)

  • Good verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working in a team environment.

  • Hearing requirements – able to identify differences in alarms or tones or changes in the sound of equipment to determine potential mechanical problems.

  • Vision requirements – close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus to bring an object into focus.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
